Free National Landscape habitat walks!

April 29, 2025

Exploring the varied National Landscape habitats around Leiston, guided by Richard Allenby-Pratt, photographer and nature writer from The Suffolk Project. With kind support from Suffolk and Essex Coast and Heaths, National Landscape and funded by Galloper Wind Farm Ltd.

The walks are open to people of all ages and abilities, living in Leiston and the surrounding area. All you need is a cameraphone, but you're welcome to bring any kind of camera. We will meet in the Leiston co-op car park, where our minibus will transport you to the walk location. I will show you how to explore the habitat with your camera/phone.

We will be on our feet and on the move for about two hours, and we may encounter uneven terrain and trip hazards, with no access to toilet facilities. Children under 16 and vulnerable adults are welcome but will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult companion. We'll be outside in the elements, so you'll have to dress appropriately for the weather on the day, not forgetting rain coat or sun cream, and including footwear that provides support and protection for your feet and ankles. Please also bring a water bottle, especially if the weather is hot. The meeting point for the Minibus will be next to the staff parking area at Leiston CO-OP at 2.30pm on the first Sunday each month from June to October, ready for a prompt departure, so please be a few minutes early if you can!

Please reserve your places by emailing richard@thesuffolkproject.co.uk and please commit to the dates you reserve, as numbers are limited to 12 on each walk; if you don't turn up someone else may have lost the opportunity! Please let us know as soon as possible if your plans do, unavoidably, change.
